Animal Welfare

Our camels are not worked during the hottest hours of the day — the sunrise timing is chosen specifically to protect animal welfare. Rides are gentle, weight limits are observed, and guests are welcome to meet the animals outside of riding.

Camels are cared for by experienced Bedouin handlers with traditional expertise and regular veterinary oversight.

Sustainability

BADU operates with a leave-no-trace policy. The early morning timing means fewer guests and less desert disturbance. Single-use plastics are not used at camp. Food is prepared fresh with local ingredients. Every experience creates direct income for local Bedouin guides, cooks, musicians, and handlers.

Start your day with a peaceful sunrise or morning day over the desert with a BADU sunrise or morning breakfast experience. After an early morning pick-up, arrive at the camp where you’ll be greeted with a warm cup of Bedouin coffee or karkade.

Venture into the desert on a 30-minute camel ride in the beautiful Makadi Bay Desert, watching the horizon as the first rays of sunlight kiss the sand or during the warm morning to see the sunlights reflected on the beauty of the desert. The stillness and beauty of the desert at dawn offer a rare sense of peace and connection with nature.

Back at the camp, enjoy a hearty Bedouin breakfast. The spread includes freshly baked bedoun bread, fava beans with a variety of add-ons, bedouin inspired canapés with cheese & vegetables topped with tahini and black pepper, and sweet zalabia with date syrup. Along with breakfast, traditional Bedouin tea and coffee will be served.

Engage in hands-on activities such as bread making and coffee brewing, getting a real feel for Bedouin traditions. A live Bedouin music performance adds to the magical morning experience.
